Monday December 12th:
Makiki Valley loop trail with my dear friend Kimmy. Here are a couple pics:
(The vines are RED from the sun, real cool looking)
Night HURT loop started 6pm, 4:29 total.
Let me start of by saying this run ended with torrential downpours, the likes of which I have never experience on this trail. The trails, literally rivers half way up my calves, I could not see more than a foot in front of me, absolute chaos. For some reason I found it quite enjoyable.
Other highlights of the night were talking to a couple of dudes from California, one had moved here, and they were on their way to the look out bench on the Kalawahine trail in slippahs and a itty bitty flash light to smoke a bowl; they were quite friendly even when I tried to pass them and took a fall down the side of the trail (I found it quite funny as usual only this time some one got to see it HA), spoke with them for about 5 minutes about HURT and whatnot. Oh and I saw about 7-8 piggies going down to Nu'u'anu, mostly babies but I got to see the biggest one I have ever seen on the island, he was all stone still in the light of my headlamp. Speaking of headlamp, I bought the Petzl myo xp, of which was inspired by fellow HURT runner Rosie, and I was trying it for the first time, pretty happy with it but it didn't quite seem as bright as her's, I found out the next day she has the RXP ]: ("Oh that's why!")
Tuesday December 13
North Shore 82 min 9+ miles. Ran on side of road where I could and dirt road and the dreaded asphalt.
Wednesday December 14
15+ miles, 2:58. Ran to trails, up hogback, maleka, manoa cliff, through pauoa flats, down aihualama, back up and down kalawahine and down connect to home. Taking it easy on the descents, knees a little sore. Lots of debris on trails due to all the rains.
Thursday December 15
6 miles, 49 min total run time. 2x1 miles on track: 5:56 and 5:53, with one mile barefoot on grass.
Friday December 16
30 miles. 12k ascent, 12k descent!!! Kuliouou ridge trail repeats x6. 6:51 total time. Was a good day, but the descents are killing at times and sore after run. Ate PB&Js and potatoes.
Love the Pine tree sections on this trail
The vert is hard to see in these pics but very apparent while running it

Saturday December 17
Oooh the knees are sore, off. Well sort of did a catering gig at the Convention center for 7 hours.
Sunday December 18
HURT loop with Bob and Barb McAllister, Jackie and Rex, easy pace 6 1/2. I needed it my knees still real sore.
Squeezed another 100+ mile week wahoo, and tons of vert.
